Saying goodbye...

The worst part of my visit is always saying goodbye to the children.  The work very hard to make it very difficult.  Cries of "Uncle please don't go..." are not always the easiest to set aside.  Only God can produce the kind of love the brings a small-town Texas boy to care and love children from half a world away so much.

We spent Sunday afternoon playing with the children.  Singing songs (well Bill did more of that than I), jump rope contests, talking, laughing, and smiling.  It was a lovely afternoon.

One thing that Bill and I both noticed is that when we are in India, we have more time to play with the children there than our own children here.  When we are home it is so easy to be involved in so many other things that we set our own children aside.  A profound moment on an already tough afternoon.  (And sadly since I have been back I have been so tired and so busy trying to catch up, I can't say I have done a great job of improving things here... GRRRR)

Finally around 6PM we bid adieu to the children one last time, and loaded up in the our car and headed off for one final dinner with Moses and family as well as Pastor Johnson and his wife Solzinya.
