One of the things that is very important in India is to honour your guests. In particular guests are often honoured with a garland of flowers being placed around their necks. Sometimes they are also given a shaw around their shoulders.

| Pastor Luke and wife garland me... |
This has happened to me many times. I have come to accept it, though early on in my trips to India it used to irritate me because I felt like they were setting me above others. Now I have come to realize it is part of their culture and a way they show hospitality and respect. I suspect that I have now received this honour at least 20 times. I am pleased with the respect, but it is necessary, but I have given up stating my thoughts... they are going to do it anyway. It is just India!

| Getting Garlanded! Again... |
One other thing about being the Honoured Guest which was irritating... that is that often we are not allowed to eat with everyone else. They send us to the pastor's house to eat apart from the others. On the one hand part of this is to make sure we can eat and get a little rest, which is appreciated, but at times we wanted to eat with and meet with the people we had been ministering too.
